Béatrice Quinio, Emeishanquin, France.

Our home welcomed its first Pembroke in 1995. I was drawn to the breed as a child, possibly infused with my grandmother’s devotion to the British Royal Family. Years later, when the time came for my husband and I to get our own dog, the choice became pretty obvious. They say cats are like potato chips, you can’t have just one…Well, I believe this also applies to Corgis once you fall in love with them. In 2002, I started breeding Pems with Jocelyne Thomas who had a long history with both Corgi breeds and had mentored me as I embarked on this passion. In 2018, when Jocelyne retired from our co-owned prefix Shamquin, I moved on to a new prefix: Emeishanquin. At this time, we have 4 generations of Pembrokes living under our roof.

The roots of my current bloodlines lie in two special girls from my 2009 homebred litter: Shamquin Eden Rose « Yumi », and Shamquin Emei Shan « Milou » who would later become Fr.Be.Int. CH Shamquin Emei Shan ROM HSAds HIAS in the United States — the first French-bred bitch to add a ROM title to her name…and to go High in Trial at the 2014 PWCCA NS Herding trial. Needless to say, nothing would have happened without several friends in the USA who played a great part in this…It takes a village. Teamwork across borders is an important part of my breeding motivations. I bred, or co-bred and/or currently co-own Champions in France, Finland, Italy, Canada, Russia, and the USA. Let me mention a few: Milou’s son BISS multi CH Caamora Shamquin I Have A Dream for Annline « Ron », born at Pat Seifert’s and co-owned with Anneli Sutela; one of her daughters, GCHB Drifan Butterfly Kisses for Shamquin HIAS « Jolene », co-bred and co-owned with Vicki Northway’s. Jolene produced several Champions, whom BISS US.Fr CH Drifan Emeishanquin Bless Your Heart « Rita », who was Best of Breed, and Best In Show from the 2022 French Nationale. Joining both sides of my lines, I bred in France Fr CH Emeishanquin Rose-Griotte Chambertin « Rosy » who did go Best of Breed and Best In Show of the 2021 French Nationale for her very first time showing. Rosy was also BOS at the Eurocorgi’22. More recently, our Fr CH Emeishanquin Secret’s N the Fox « Saroo » (a Ron’s son) is also maturing well in the show rings.

I live near Paris and work as a freelance graphic designer and illustrator specializing in animal documentary. I have been with the Corgis & Heeler Club de France since 1995, holding various positions within the Board since 1999 and our Newsletter Editor ever since. Back in 2006, I was appointed to design an FCI standards-based study between Cardigan and Pembroke Welsh Corgis to support our French judges’ training program. A few years ago, when I decided to give this document a thorough lifting, I published it in English, French (and later, Polish). This Comparative Study is available online and I hope it keeps helping judges, breeders, and fanciers around the world to find their bearings between the two Corgis and to plunge into the standards.

I started judging in 2022, actually experiencing the American rings even before the French ones as a Sweepstakes judge. Up to day, I am FCI qualified for Cardigan and Pembroke Welsh Corgis, as well as for Lancashire Heelers.

I am truly honored by your invitation to judge the Pembrokes at your 2025 Clubshow in June. I am looking forward to meeting your dogs and the Norwegian Corgi fanciers. Merci!
