As a child at home we were never without a dog be it our own or one from along the road that I just happened to get out of its garden. The owners always knew where to collect it from and as time went on some stayed to spend the rest of there days with us whatever there breed they were all welcome.

Our neighbours had a great team of dogs the famous Caswell Pembroke Corgis and we in turn had a grandson of Ch Caswell Duskie Knight he was a grand little dog and we were encouraged to show him at the local shows. In those days you had five types of shows radius, sanction, limited, open and championship. He did not do so well in the ring and we were encouraged to have another. This was the start we were bitten and the beginning of a lifetime’s interest in the world of dogs.

Pembroke corgis from Rowell, Tindervale, Lees and Belroyd came to live and were exhibited, in turn the first litter was bred and a kennel name was registered KERMAN. The Kerman pembrokes all gained stud book numbers and enjoyed success in the ring.

Meanwhile we started to notice the Cardigan corgi and from a locally bred litter we had a brindle point tri male of Lees and Rhiwelli lines. We then had a bitch from Andersley lines and produced our first litter this was now the mid 70’s from this  litter that produced a CC and multiple res CC winners keeping a male and female they bred on producing numerous CCwinners and our first Champion Kerman The Sailorman. New lines were introduced from Wendac, Rhiwelli, Grangefield and Joseter and a number of Champions and CCwinners followed. To present day many Champion KERMAN Cardigans can be found worldwide Australia, United States of America, Denmark,Finland, Sweden, Norway and others across Europe as well as the United Kingdom to name but a few.Often these dogs have gone on to produce and start up lines for many kennels.

Other breeds have also been exhibited Bedlington Terriers, Whippets and American Cocker Spaniels .

My latest litter born Christmas Day are seven generations on my bitch line I feel this is an achievement to a strong bitch line and a sound basis for line breeding. All of my breeding stock is certified clear from PRA and I am an accredited breeder for the kennel club.

Looking back over the years my first judging appointment was in 1979 since then I have actively judged all breeds at Open Show level being passed to award CC’S in both Pembrokes and Cardigans I have had the pleasure of judging these breeds world wide at their specialities having the opportunity to go over many outstanding examples of the breed.

I am honoured to accept this invitation to judge at your speciality and look forward to the appointment .

Past

I was born into Corgis as my parents had Pembroke Welsh Corgis before I was born. However, my first showring experience was with my grandparents' West Highland White Terriers at the age of six. A couple of years later I progressed to handling my parents' Corgis and for my fifteenth birthday I was allowed to choose my very own puppy.

After leaving school, I gained practical and theoretical experience in all aspects of kennel management whilst working at a boarding kennel, cattery, and working farm. Whilst there, I enjoyed caring for all creatures from Bantums to donkeys and all in between.

I extended my knowledge of grooming whilst at the kennels and then returned home to work for an established groomer, eventually taking over her business. I then moved to larger premises to incorporate a petshop and dog grooming salon.

Since then I have become well and truly hooked on the showring. I have spent a great deal of time to gain the essential knowledge needed in all aspects of the showring, handling, and preparation, and also learning valuable lessons when it comes to breeding programmes, which is now bearing fruition in various countries thorughout the world.

Present

I have added the delightful Cardigan Corgi and am also venturing into the Hound Group with the Petit Bassett Griffon Vendeen.

I try to give something back to the canine world through various roles on committee, most notably as the present Show Manager of an all breed club and Secretary of The Pennine and Yorkshire Welsh Corgi Association. I have been involved with both Pennine Welsh Corgi Association and Yorkshire Welsh Corgu Club in excess of 20 years. Firstly being cup steward for Pennine. I then took over the role of show secretary, also for Pennine. When the decision was made to join both clubs, I continued in the role of Secretary for the new club.

I am passed to award Challenge Certificates in the U.K. for Pembroke Corgis and Cardigan Corgis, and I also judge the remainder of the pastoral breeds at open show level.
